About Me

After successful completion of Bachelor’s degree in Applied Biotechnology from Sikkim Manipal University, India I joined University of Turku, Finland for my Master’s degree in Bioinformatics. I had been granted with EURECA fellowship to support my masters studies. My degree in bioinformatics has been a bridge to link my experimental studies with computational knowledge and get insight in the subjects like Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Programming skills (Python, BioPython, R), Bioinformatics tools, Phylogenetics, Structural Bioinformatics (Homology Modeling, Structure Based Drug Design, Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics). I also had the opportunity to gather knowledge in the fields like System Biology, Micr-array and Next Generation Sequencing.

Completing my Master’s thesis in protein structure determination using X-ray crystallography, I continued working as an Research Assistant at Turku Centre for Biotechnology (Crystallography Group). I worked as Research Assistant for almost 1 year and contributed in all the essential steps for protein structure determination in X-ray crystallography (from crystallization to structure validation). I have been involved with structural and functional studied of PhaZ7 from Paucimonas lemoignei. The work have been conducted in the financial support from Academy of Finland and Varsinais-Suomi Regional Fund.

Recently in 2012, I enrolled to University of Turku as a graduate student and am working in the field X-ray crystallography for the structural and functional studies of several depolymerases involved in bio-polymer degradation.
